Eni's giant Bu Attifel field is located in the eastern Sirte Basin. The field was discovered in 1968 and brought onstream in 1972. The field was Eni's largest Libyan oil producer until it was overtaken by the Elephant field in 2006.The Bu Attifel field produces oil, gas and condensate. Production is supported by a water injection programme which commenced early in field life.
