The Ezzaouia oil field is located onshore on the Zarzis peninsula, south of Djerba Island in the southern Gulf of Gabes. Marathon discovered the field in 1986 on its Zarzis exploration licence and brought the field onstream in 1990. The field is operated by Zenith Energy which acquired Candax Energy's equity in 2021.
