In 1995, when Samson took over the block, the area was shut-in. Minor amounts of oil (1.9 million barrels) had been produced in the past. Samson reactivated the Tiguaje oil field and production reached 800 b/d in 1996. In March 1999, Samson commenced gas production from the Mamón field.
