Germany's Norway gas gambit: why SEFE's big deal with Equinor matters
Report summary
Equinor and SEFE signed a 10-year deal contract of 10 bcm per year starting in 2024, with a five-year extension option. Also, Equinor signed a non-binding letter of intent (LoI) to supply low-carbon hydrogen to SEFE. The deal has been featured as the largest gas supply agreement(GSA) signed by Equinor since Troll’s GSA in 1986. In this insight we look to answer the following questions: What are the benefits of this deal for Equinor? How Equinor will deliver production to underpin the contracted volumes? How does this contract contribute to SEFE’s gas and LNG portfolio? How this agreement align with Norway’s and Germany’s strategy for hydrogen?
