The Gina Krog unit is 27 kilometres northwest of the Sleipner Øst field in the Northern North Sea. The field, originally known as Dagny, was discovered in 1978 but was considered sub-commercial. The discovery of the Gina Krog East field (previously Ermitrude) in 2007 led to further appraisal drilling and the launch of an area development.
