The Huwaiza block is located in the southern Missan province, near the Iraqi-Iranian border. In 1980, the field was discovered by the Huwaiza-1 exploratory well, which reached a depth of 4166m. The field is shared with Iran where it is known as Sohrab. In 2022, the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) awarded Dana Energy an Iranian Petroleum Contract (IPC) to develop Sohrab.
