Iraq’s gas turnaround: flaring down, output up

Iraq is accelerating efforts to monetise its massive gas resources, with a wave of EPC contract awards and major upstream investments underway. While associated gas capture remains the priority, new non-associated gas projects, swap agreements, and emerging LNG import plans are reshaping the country’s gas supply outlook. In this report, we cover Iraq’s gas supply outlook through 2040, assess key gas processing projects currently operational or under construction, examine how gas hubs and new non-associated fields could push output beyond 4 bcfd, and explore the risks and opportunities surrounding Kurdistan’s expanding gas sector.
