Open for investment and home to huge resources, Iraq’s upstream landscape is changing. So too, are the opportunities and challenges. The Majors and other western IOCs continue to re-evaluate their positions due to tough fiscal terms and low returns, but there are other companies with higher risk appetites willing to fill the vacuum. The country presents both oil and gas opportunities of scale, with gas projects being arguably more commercially attractive. But overall the investment outlook for both is improving, as vital new infrastructure is built out.
