Report summary

The Jackfish project is located in the Athabasca oil sands region of Alberta 15 kilometres southeast of Conklin (140 kilometres south of Fort McMurray). Given the reservoir's depth the operator (Devon Energy) uses Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage (SAGD) technology to develop the field. Jackfish is one of only two SAGD projects onstream to be operated by a US based company (the other is the ConocoPhillips operated Surmont project).
