The giant Johan Sverdrup oil field is located in the Central North Sea in the Utsira High play. Johan Sverdrup is the third largest oil discovery on the NCS and was the country's largest FID in over 30 years by resource. The field is also one of the lowest emitters on the NCS because it is fully electrified with power from shore. The field was brought onstream in October 2019 and is being developed in two phases.
