Kosmos makes second significant gas discovery offshore Mauritania
This report is currently unavailable
Report summary
On 12 November, Kosmos announced it had made a second large gas discovery in Mauritania's offshore Block C-8 with its Marsouin-1 exploration well. This follows its 8 tcf Ahmeyim (Tortue) discovery on the same block in April 2015. Early indications suggest over 5 tcf of resource in-place in the main Marsouin anticline, with upside likely in deeper horizons and nearby structures. Based on preliminary results, Marsouin is shaping up to be the second largest find in Sub Sahara Africa this year, second only to Ahmeyim.
