The Kuatamlonmunai (KAM) JV operates the Konys and Bektas fields in the South Turgai basin, central Kazakhstan. The fields have been 100% Chinese-owned since 2009, following deals by ZhenHua Oil and CNPC. After these companies farmed-in, there was higher investment in 2010-14. As a result, production increased to a peak of 17,000 b/d in 2013. However, capital expenditure has fallen sharply since 2014, in response to the current price environment.
