Kupe Area
Report summary
The Kupe Area is a gas-condensate development located 30 km offshore from the South Taranaki coast. The Kupe South field was discovered in December 1986 by NZOG. A further four exploration and appraisal wells were drilled, however development did not proceed due to low oil and domestic gas prices. Improving prices led to a re-evaluation of field development and FEED commenced in June 2004. FID was taken in June 2006. Production began in December 2009 from three development wells.
