The Long Lake bitumen recovery and upgrading project is situated 40 kilometres southeast of Fort McMurray in the Athabasca oil sands region of northeastern Alberta. Long Lake is the fourth major integrated oil sands project in Canada, and it achieved first bitumen production in Q1 2008.
