Deal Insight
Lundin acquires OMV's 25% interest in the giant Wisting discovery
Report summary
Lundin Energy is acquiring OMV's entire 25% interest in the Wisting field for US$320 million. Lundin's interest in the field will increase to 35% upon completion of the deal. The Wisting field is in the remote Barents Sea, 300 kilometres from shore. The scale, complexity and remoteness of the project will bring challenges, but there is longer-term upside potential. The deal will strengthen Lundin's presence in the Barents Sea and will add a material investment opportunity to the portfolio. OMV's exit from the oil project underlines its strategic shift to gas.
