The Lyell field lies four kilometres northwest of the Canadian Natural Resources-operated Ninian field. It has been developed as a subsea tie-back to the Ninian South platform. The Lyell subsea infrastructure is remotely controlled from the platform.A re-development project was approved in 2006, consisting initially of three new production wells, one water injector and two workovers on existing wells.
