Report summary

There is no commercial oil or gas production in Madagascar. The Tsimiroro heavy oil field was declared commercial in 2014 after a successful pilot steam flood programme produced over 220,000 barrels for storage. Madagascar Oil, the operator, received field development approval in 2015. The development plan envisioned two stages, with an initial stage trucking up to 10,000 b/d to domestic markets, and a later stage exporting via pipeline.
