MENA upstream: 2016 in review - Record production despite prices, crises and ISIS
Report summary
2016 was a mixed year for the Middle East and Northern Africa. Capital investment hit its lowest point since 2007 and exploration was put firmly on the back burner. However, record output from the major producers, and Iran's post sanctions ramp-up, more than offset outages from less stable parts of the region. November's OPEC meeting will see production throttled back in 2017, but major investment decisions in Egypt, deals for ADCO and KOC and signs of hope in Libya all point to an exciting year ahead. Our review of 2016 includes a look back at the key trends in production, exploration, investment and M&A, highlights major events that shaped the industry, and includes links to our top Insights and Informs published in the past 12 months.
