Wood Mackenzie travelled to Johannesburg and Maputo on research between 11-15 September 2017. We met with key players in South Africa and Mozambique's oil and gas industries including Majors, independents, local E&P companies and government; as well as the Mozambican national oil company ENH. In South Africa we discussed: Karoo shale gas prospectivity, the fiscal environment, and the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act (MPRDA). Key topics were. What is the pipeline to Karoo exploration? How attractive is offshore South Africa? What does the MPRDA mean for the oil and gas sector? In Mozambique we discussed: development of the Rovuma gas discoveries, Exploration Licence Round 5, and the Pande-Temane fields. Key topics were. How will Coral FLNG be developed? Is a Rovuma-South Africa pipeline feasible? What are the remaining steps to FID on Area 1 and 4 LNG? When will exploration recommence in Mozambique?
