Net zero targets for US shale need a clearer roadmap
Report summary
E&Ps are actively implementing emissions reductions solutions and developing pathways to achieve carbon-related targets. While no firm template to net zero exists, a consensus is emerging on what steps are necessary. Ease of abatement, cost of technology and visibility are driving the current focus on reducing methane and flaring. But costs in aggregate will scale quickly as solutions are deployed across the entirety of company portfolios and electrification plays a bigger role in driving down combustion emissions.
