The North East Abu Gharadig (NEAG) Block is located in the Western Desert, immediately north of the Abu Gharadig field. It was initially awarded to a consortium of Shell, Repsol and Mobil in 1995.Shell has made over ten oil nd gas discoveries on the block. The largest field, JG, was discovered in 2001 and brought onstream in May 2003. Oil was initially trucked to the Badr El Din 3 field facilities, while the gas was flared.
