North Komsomolskoye is one of Rosneft's largest oil and gas fields and lies in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. In 2012, Equinor and Rosneft signed a JV to focus on exploration of the offshore Arctic in the Barents Sea and a Domanik project in the Volga-Urals. A less prominent element was a trial JV to appraise the Pokur formation of North Komsomolskoye. This was carried out in 2015-16, and as a result, 2P reserves doubled to 750 million barrels.
