OML 13 is a large block in Akwa Ibom state in the southeast of the country. It is reported to hold in-place volumes of over 900 million barrels of oil and 5 tcf of gas. OML 13 has been dormant since its main field Utapate ceased in 1995. It was revoked from the Shell JV in 2015 and ‘back-converted' into three Oil Prospecting Licences (OPLs 2001, 2002, and 2003) which were part of the 2007 licensing round.
