OML 41 is situated in the northwestern Niger Delta and was originally part of the NNPC/Shell joint venture (JV). There is one commercial field on the block, Sapele. Sapele has produced oil since 1971 and was among the first in Nigeria to produce sales gas in 1977. Since the divestment of Shell, Total and Eni's combined 45% interest in 2010, new investments are underway on improving oil production and boosting supply to the domestic gas market.
