Q3 2021 pre-FID upstream project tracker: Brazil takes the gold in FIDs
Report summary
Brazil has the most FIDs taken in the year so far, with Petrobras accelerating the pace of contracting in 2021. Mero 4 was the fifth FPSO to receive FID in Brazil in 2021 – four of them are Petrobras-operated. Deepwater is the standout theme with Shell's Whale project in the US Gulf of Mexico and Tullow Oil's Jubilee Southeast (formerly Mahogany) also progressing in addition to the FIDs in Brazil. The remainder of the year should see some key gas projects progress across Australia and the Middle East.
