Q4 2021 pre-FID upstream project tracker: Turkey moves forward with Sakarya Phase One
Report summary
The main supply chain contracts were awarded in October for the deepwater Sakarya project in the Black Sea, marking an effective FID. Offshore projects are the leading theme this year, with 15 FIDs so far. Brazil has the most FIDs taken (six) in the year so far, with Petrobras accelerating the pace of contracting in 2021. We expect around US$18 billion to spent on those projects. Overall, committed investment for the year is underpinned by onshore (including LNG) projects in the Middle East and Russia. New conventional onshore developments are expected to attract more than US$64 billion. Australian Scarborough is the key remaining FID this year.
