Ramos is one of Argentina's largest gas fields in terms of total reserves although the field is now very mature. It is located in the very north of the country in the Santa Cruz basin. It was discovered by YPF in 1974 but remained undeveloped until it was sold to a Pluspetrol-led group in 1978, which brought it onstream in early-1980.Gas sales from the field have historically been constrained by a lack of market.
