Samaraneftegaz is a wholly -owned subsidiary of Rosneft, which operates assets in the Samara Oblast of the Volga-Urals. Rosneft acquired Samaraneftegaz in 2007, following the collapse of Yukos. Samaraneftegaz included about 200 fields, 136 of which are in production. Most of the fields are mature. It was its fifth largest subsidiary by production until 2021.
