Samotlorskoye is the largest oil field in Russia. It achieved the second highest field production rate globally ever (after Saudi Arabia's Ghawar) and remains one of the largest in the world. It is located in the Khanty-Mansiisk Autonomous Okrug (central West Siberia) immediately north of Nizhnevartovsk on the Ob River.
