While historically overshadowed by Alberta, Saskatchewan's slice of the prolific Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin has attracted a notable amount of development activity over the years. The province's geology tends to offer more oil-prone plays than its western neighbours, particularly in the form of heavy and tight oil.
