Saudi Aramco targets Jafurah unconventional resources for gas growth
Report summary
The Jafurah Basin is a unique and compelling unconventional resource in Saudi Arabia’s oil and gas heartlands. It is enormous at 200 tcf-equivalent of resources. It contains valuable liquids-rich gas and the reservoir properties compare favourably with several of the top US unconventional plays. After several years of exploration, appraisal and pilot production, Saudi Aramco is ready to start the first stage of commercial development. The tender for a new gas plant, pipelines and field infrastructure is under way. First gas could be achieved by 2025, and if successful, several more development stages will follow.
