Shaikan is a heavy oil field located in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI), 60 kilometres north of Erbil. It is one of the largest fields in Kurdistan with oil initially in place (OIIP) estimated at 4.2 billion barrels. Hydrocarbons have been encountered in Cretaceous, Jurassic and Triassic reservoirs.
