Report summary

The Shaikan oil field is located in the Kurdistan region of Iraq, 85 kilometres northwest of the regional capital, Erbil. Gulf Keystone discovered the field - one of the largest in Kurdistan - in 2009. The field was declared a commercial discovery in August 2012, and the first phase of the development plan approved in June 2013. By March 2014, the production capacity was 16,000 b/d, and had increased to 40,000 b/d by year-end.
