Report summary
Spacing wells too tightly can hurt value. Drainage areas overlap and fracture networks interfere with adjacent wells. This is often cited as a key risk to tight oil. With the goal of quantifying this risk, we analyzed Delaware and Midland Wolfcamp well spacing and performance trends. Though spacing trends vary by operator and acreage, we identified several inflection points through a high-level analysis of Wolfcamp well data.
