Report summary

The Stag heavy oil field is located in the Dampier sub-basin, part of the Carnarvon Basin, offshore Western Australia. The field is part of a near-shore trend of fields that lie in around 50 metres of water, 60 kilometres from shore. The Apache led joint venture approved the development plan in August 1996. The JV decided on the installation of a fixed production platform, connected via a mooring buoy to a leased FSO vessel. First production was in May 1998.
