Sub-Saharan Africa: review of 2018
Report summary
First production from the most expensive projects ever in Angola and Nigeria, Africa's first FLNG and FIDs in Senegal and Angola were highlights in an otherwise underwhelming year in Sub-Saharan Africa. High profile wells in Senegal, The Gambia and Namibia disappointed as discovered volumes reached a 25 year low. Investment remained flat as the era of mega-projects gave way to smaller incremental investments and M&A deals totalled just US$1.7 billion. Our review of 2018 provides key statistics for the year in Sub-Saharan Africa, including investment trends, M&A, exploration, project sanctions and production.
