Sub-Saharan licensing round-up: awards are few and far between

Africa Oil Week 2019 prompted the now traditional wave of bid round announcements from governments across the region. With relative newcomers like Ghana and Senegal going up against more mature exploration plays, competition for investment has rarely been tougher. Bid round results since 2018 have been underwhelming. Have governments provided enough incentives to lure investors, or can direct negotiations provide better results? In this slide pack, we review the acreage on offer in past, ongoing and planned rounds and look at the results since 2014.
