Pakistan Petroleum discovered the Sui gas field in 1952 and it remains one of the largest gas discoveries in Pakistan. The field lies in the Middle Indus Basin, around 480 kilometres northeast of Karachi, in the Eastern Balochistan province. The Sui gas field has a gas processing facility, the biggest gas compressor station in the country, and a purification plant.
