These key drivers enable cost-effective solutions while enhancing margins and market position. Wood Mackenzie tracked 30 major subsea umbilical, riser and flowline (SURF) contracts awarded in 2018 and 19 contracts in the first quarter of 2019. With SURF tender activity increasing, these strategies are essential for critical management of costs. After being in a down cycle for the past four years, the market is making a gradual recovery. This will require the industry to remain focused on controlling costs as utilization of assets rises and the pricing of the installation assets improve.
