US Lower 48 unconventional upstream summary
Report summary
The shale boom in the United States transformed the country's upstream landscape and changed global market dynamics. US Lower 48 unconventional oil and gas production rose sevenfold in ten years, attracting hundreds of billions of dollars in investment. The 2020 price crash hit the sector hard and ended the growth streak. However, high oil and gas prices beginning in 2021 again shifted the industry trajectory as activity began to resume in the newly shaken environment. The slide-pack, which is available in the downloads section, provides an overview of the US upstream industry and gives context and background for each of the most important unconventional plays, including: Eagle Ford, Haynesville, Barnett, SCOOP-STACK-Cana, Marcellus, Utica, DJ Niobrara, Bakken/Three Forks, Powder River, and the Permian's Bone Spring, Midland Wolfcamp, Spraberry, and Delaware Wolfcamp.
