Report summary
The West Esh El Mallaha fields are located in the Eastern Desert, eight kilometres from Hurghada. Coplex made the first two discoveries on the block, Rabeh and Rabeh East, in 1997. First production was achieved in 1998 from temporary production facilities and the oil was exported by truck in limited quantities. LUKOIL acquired all outstanding equity in the block from Bitech and Naftex in 2002. Subsequently, it initiated an extensive facility upgrade and development drilling programme.
