The Westlich der Ems region is located in the western area of the German state of Lower Saxony (Niedersachsen), the fields are enclosed by the Dutch border and the river Ems. It is primarily an oil producing region comprising of 22 oil fields, but there are 8 small gas fields. Its top producing oil fields are Emlichheim, Georgsdorf and Rühlermoor Valendis.
