Where next for Oman's gas growth?
Report summary
Gas production in Oman has grown by nearly 40% over the last 10 years. Tight gas projects such as BP’s Khazzan and Shell’s Maboruk NE have led to a renaissance in gas supply. Concerns around shortages have faded, and both domestic and LNG demand are now expected to be fully met at least until the end of the decade. But there are plenty of undeveloped gas resources and plenty more could come from ongoing exploration. What are the options to create new gas demand and keep the growth story going? We explore these options, including new industries and/or LNG expansion. However, rising costs and market dynamics mean each choice also brings its own risks.
