Report summary
The Zohr field was discovered by Eni in August 2015 with the first well drilled on the Shorouk Offshore Block, in the Nile Delta. The field is located in deep water adjacent to the Cypriot maritime border and is the first deep water Miocene carbonate discovery in the basin. Initial estimates suggest the carbonate reef structure could hold as much as 30 tcf of lean gas in place making it the largest ever gas discovery in the Mediterranean. Eni has started an ambitious fast track development.
