Explore our latest thinking in Latest thinking Block

Loading...

The Latest Thinking Block is a block which has a number of options for loading in different article types from the site and presenting them to the user.

This can be used in many different ways, and as such, is a rather complex block.

Fields

Content Tab

  • Article Types - This defines which article types you want to loaded in by the block. These types are based upon the page type (for example, "Event Pages") or in "Article Pages" this is defined by the "Category" setting on the page. If none of these are selected, the block will attempt to pull in every page.
  • Hide Past Webinars - If you have set Webinars to appear in the Article Type field, this will stop Webinars that have already finished from appearing. For most occassions, you will want to set this to be on. However, if you're using the block to exclusively show Webinars, and there aren't many of them at that time, leaving this unticked can stop the block from returning very little, or nothing.
  • Hide Title Text - Switching this on will hide the title text completely.
  • Title Text - By default, the title for this block will read "Explore our latest thinking in [Name of this block]" (please make sure the block is named so that the text in the title makes sense). Entering text in the title text field will override this and instead display your custom text.

Tagging Tab

  • Batch Size - This is the number of articles loaded in both when the user lands on the page, and whenever they click "Load More".
  • Commodity - Add any commodity category here if you want the block to have a preset filter. Note that only the top level of categories are usable. Any below have no effect.
  • Industry Sector - Add any industry sector category here if you want the block to have a preset filter. Note that only the top level of categories are usable. Any below have no effect.
  • Location - Add any location category here if you want the block to have a preset filter. Note that only the top level of categories are usable. Any below have no effect.
  • Marketing Topics - Add any marketing topics category here if you want the block to have a preset filter. Note that only the top level of categories are usable. Any below have no effect.
  • Hide Commodity Filter - This hides the commodity filter from the user. Note that presets do not work when the filter is hidden.
  • Hide Location Filter - This hides the location filter from the user. Note that presets do not work when the filter is hidden.
  • Hide Industry Sector - This hides the industry sector filter from the user. Note that presets do not work when the filter is hidden.
  • Hide Marketing Topics - This hides the marketing topics filter from the user. Note that presets do not work when the filter is hidden.

Note: The filter options are OR filtered between categories in the same filter type, but AND filtered between different category type. For example, if you have the following filters applied

Commodity = "Oil & Gas", "Chemicals"

Location = "North America"

then the results returned shall be articles tagged

("Oil & Gas" OR "Chemicals") AND "North America"

so an article tagged "Oil & Gas" but not "North America" would not be returned, but an article tagged "Chemicals" and "North America" would.

News Options Tab

  • Use News Layout - As seen in the first example. This is the standard layout of this block, with rows of panels and a load more option at the bottom. This shouldn't be used if "Use Horizon Layout" is switched on.
  • Use Horizon Layout - This is a layout specifically to display the latest Horizon articles. This shouldn't be used if "Use News Layout" is switched on. Unless on a Horizons specific page, this shouldn't be used. An example of this layout can be seen in example 5 at the top of the page.
  • News Styling - Choose from News Grid (Example 4), News Grid Horizontal (Example 2), News Grid Vertical (Example 3), and News Grid Listing (Example 1).
  • News Section Heading - A secondary heading that appears below the block heading (see example 3 at the top of the page)
  • CTA Link Text - Adds a CTA button with the text defined in this field to the featured news article at the beginning of the block (this will be the latest article). You can see this displayed in example 3 at the top of the page.
  • Number of Rows to Include Article Images - Choose how many rows will pull in the teaser images of the linked articles. A placeholder will be pulled in if one is not defined on the article page itself.
  • Background Colour - The background colour for the block.
    • White Background
    • Black Background
  • Industry News Sectors - chooses which sectors from the News will be shown in the block.
  • Marketing news topics - chooses which marketing topics from the News will be shown in the block.
  • News listing page - defines where the block title and News Section Heading text will link. The default page if this is left undefined is /market-insights/market-insights-listings/
