Faltering global decarbonisation efforts are resulting in a rapid depletion of the remaining carbon budget for 1.5 degree. Billions of tonnes of carbon removal are required for net zero, and delays in achieving net zero are driving the requirement even higher – to redress a temperature overshoot.
An array of nature-based and engineered carbon removal solutions have emerged, but cost, deployment readiness, and other characteristics vary drastically, leaving an unclear path to offsetting 8 billion tonnes of residual emissions annually with carbon removal.
The webinar will review the current state of this nascent industry and the factors that will shape its evolution, across the following topics:
- Project type costs, potential and readiness
- A deep-dive into carbon removal project economics
- Who is buying or investing in carbon removal, and why?
- Analysis of government policy and other regional factors impacting removal deployment
