Polymer Demand: A Sectoral Outlook
Report summary
As sustainability and circularity become fundamental to the future of the polymers industry, many plastic demand end-use applications are under pressure, while new applications are growing. For example, single use plastics demand growth is likely to be limited by legislative bans and circularity targets while emerging applications, like e-commerce, are growing considerably. With so many variables impacting polymer demand, current static forecasting methods are limited. There is a need to interpret and quantify sector specific trends for a more comprehensive polymer demand outlook. In this study, we leverage our Materials Applications Platform to highlight long term trends and themes emerging across 5 major polymer consuming sectors and expose key value chain implications.
