In early-March 2020, analysts from our North American metallurgical and thermal coal teams visited Central Appalachia for a research trip. We met with producer executives, major thermal and metallurgical sales players, and underground mine management. We had the opportunity to discuss details surrounding the Appalachian markets and view operations while visiting an active underground mine and coal preparation facility. The key findings and takeaways are summarised in this report.
