Report summary
The Central Appalachia coal supply summary provides an overview and key trends in the region. The report includes a summary of key issues, annual production and average costs for the region and changes to our forecast from the previous year. Central Appalachia (CAPP) coal producers have been impacted by the global economy slowdown in 2024 especially China. The drastic price tumbling in the year has pushed the high cost miners out of the market and undermine the output expansion of the big miners in the region.
