Asset Report
Coal asset report – Gansu – Aug 2021
Report summary
Gansu province is located in the northwest of China and is one of the smaller coal-producing regions in the country. Gansu's reserves are almost entirely bituminous thermal coal with less than 1% semi-coking coal. Gansu is further defining its coal resources and is one of the few provinces in China that has been developing new coalfields. Gansu belongs to the Energy Golden Triangle – along with Ningxia, Shaanxi and Inner Mongolia. Due to the isolation of the province from the coast, and the long transport distance with rail infrastructure under-developed, Gansu doesn't supply coal to the seaborne coastal market at a competitive cost.
