New Acland is a surface coal mine, located 150 kilometres west of Brisbane in the Darling Downs region of Queensland, producing thermal coal predominantly for the export market. New Acland operates under mining leases ML50170 and ML50216, which is within mineral development licence MDL244. The proposed extension and expansion of the mine under MLA50232 will adjoin the southern and western boundaries of the current mining lease.
